At Ashcroft High School we take child online safety very seriously. As your child becomes more independent, it is only natural that they take this independence online. In our teenage years we explore, try new things and sometimes push boundaries and take risks; this is an essential part of growing up.

With all of the potential that the online world and new technology offers, young people now have access to huge opportunities. They use technology to express themselves, explore, and be creative; it has changed the way they communicate. The internet has changed all of our lives, and your child has grown up during this change. Many of the things that confuse, baffle or even scare us are part of the everyday for them. For many of us, this can all be a bit too much.

You might be wondering whether what they are doing is safe, and you might also be thinking about how you can watch out for them as well in their online activities as you do in other areas of their life?

We would like to help parents to understand the risks of the internet and how you can help your child to stay safe online.

Below we have provided a number of resources full of information, support, advice and guidance.  We highly recommend that you become familiar with these resources and check the web-sites regularly.  This will allow you, as a parent/carer, to monitor, support, advise and if necessary challenge in order to keep your child safe.  If there are any issues arising from anything here that you would like to discuss, please get in touch with your child’s house team.
