Welcome to Ashcroft High School

Sexual exploitation

As your child starts secondary school, they are likely to enjoy more freedom than at any time in their childhood. Whilst this is an important part of growing up, you will be aware that as a parent you need to help them to enjoy this increasing sense of freedom in a safe manner. Adolescence is a time of change for your child as they explore new relationships and develop a wider social circle, so it can be difficult at times to tell the difference between typical teenage behaviour and warning signs that they may be getting involved in an unsafe relationship. Knowing the signs to look for can help you prevent your child entering an unsafe relationship, intervene early if they are vulnerable, and get the right help. This guide is intended to offer you some straightforward information and advice on how to keep your child safe from such relationships.

Headteacher’s Message

The Headteacher provides outstanding leadership through high expectations for achievement and behaviour, a clear vision for school development and highly effective arrangements for developing teaching

As Ashcroft High School’s Headteacher I am fortunate to be part of the Ashcroft Family, a community of committed and talented staff, students and governors.

In October 2013, the school was judged as a good, with “outstanding” leadership and management.

The whole of the school community is immensely proud of this achievement as it recognises the hard work of out staff and governors, the unique qualities of our students, and the support of their parents.

I am also proud of our new school building, which includes modern classrooms, a theatre, a cafe and youth community facilities. Our smart, new school uniform is a visual symbol of Ashcroft’s high standards.

I have very high expectations of myself, of staff, students, parents and governors. I am proud of the way in which we constantly work together as members of the Ashcroft family to improve our school. That is the “Ashcroft Way”.

The school continues to improve due to our shared determination to achieve excellence.

I would welcome the opportunity to show you why I am so proud to belong to the Ashcroft family, and encourage you to join us.

Ms. Austin

E-safety

At Ashcroft High School we take child online safety very seriously. As your child becomes more independent, it is only natural that they take this independence online. In our teenage years we explore, try new things and sometimes push boundaries and take risks; this is an essential part of growing up.
