GCSE Success Stories
We are so proud of the achievements of our Year 11 students this summer. Here are some of their success stories:
Tejan, Former Someries Junior School pupil
High achiever Tejan gained an outstanding 9 grade 9s across his GCSEs as well as an A in Further Mathematics and Distinction in IT, and is now looking forward to studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics at College. Tejan is aiming high and hopes to read Engineering at university after his A levels.
I would recommend Ashcroft High School because of the excellent facilities and resources, especially the LRC! My advice to younger pupils would be to try and stay on top of revision from the beginning of Year 11.
Joshua Hunt, Former Wenlock CofE Junior School pupil
Joshua is delighted to have attained an exceptional 7 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s and 1 grade 7 in his GCSEs and would like to thank the school and his supportive teachers for helping him become the person he is today. Joshua feels that he has grown in confidence and is leaving with the life skills and qualifications to help him on his next adventure at Luton Sixth Form College.
Ashcroft has prepared me for the future in so many different ways. The broad curriculum has deepened my knowledge; the vast opportunities provided in the Drama Department has built my confidence and enhanced my passion for the performing arts; and the careers workshops and activities, such as the 16x16 Programme, has increased my awareness of the range of industries and roles available whilst allowing me to develop my employability skills.
Bhesmendiran, Former Wenlock CofE Junior School pupil
After achieving 2 grade 9s, 6 grade 8s and 1 grade 7, Bhesmendiran hopes to continue expanding his knowledge at both college and university.
At Ashcroft you not only develop academically but personally as well. The positive atmosphere and strong sense of community makes it a great place to learn and mature as an individual.
Barbora, Former Ramridge Primary School pupil
Barbora is one step closer to achieving her ambition of studying Biology at a prestigious Russell Group University after achieving 1 grade 9, 2 grade 8s and 5 grade 7s . She praises the school’s strong sense of community which was particularly evident by the support and encouragement from her peers as well as her teachers who are committed to ensuring each student reaches their full potential.
Ashcroft has not only given me the opportunity to excel in my studies but has also enabled me to extend my learning beyond the classroom, gain new experiences and broaden my range of skills. I enjoyed participating in school performances, undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh Award and going on a range of trips from the West End to universities. I have also gained a great variety of employability skills by taking up leadership roles, attending careers fairs and mock interviews, and by completing the 16x16 Programme. My advice to younger students would be to not be afraid to try new things and seize every opportunity as it will benefit you in the future.
Idris, Former Oakwood Primary School pupil
Idris is thrilled to have secured 6 grade 8s and 3 grade 7s. He is looking forward to continuing his Physics and Computer Science studies and has high aspirations of pursuing a career in the field of cyber security or computer programming. Idris has seen huge progress across all his subjects during his time at Ashcroft, and he is grateful to the school and staff for motivating and challenging him to achieve his best.
Ashcroft provided me with so many opportunities that have allowed me to pursue my interests and hobbies which also gain some invaluable life skills for the future. Such opportunities included the 16x16 Programme and the cyber security challenge! My advice to younger students would be to start studying earlier to help relieve any pressure, but also remember to maintain a healthy work-life balance!
