Supporting the mental health of our students.
Supporting our students' mental health is very important to us at Ashcroft High School.
We encourage students to be informed about their mental health and well-being, using tutor time and PSHE lessons to explore the subject. Alongside our strong pastoral provision, we are very fortunate to have a counselling service at the school led by our highly qualified counsellor, Debbie Miller. We also welcome volunteer counsellors to support our provision for students every year; these members of the team are supervised by Debbie. In 2021, we expanded our provision with support 3 days a week from Grow, a company working in the region, who work therapeutically with individuals and groups. We also link in with Youthscape and work closely with CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service). Students are referred by members of staff, parents or they can refer themselves for counselling opportunities.
