What our students say
Here, our students let us know about their Ashcroft experience...
Former Ramridge Primary School student, Kevin, is enjoying his first year at Ashcroft High School, particularly the diverse community, his teachers, making new friends and learning new skills through his lessons and extracurricular clubs. He is currently learning to play the clarinet, participating in the school’s after school music club, and is looking forward to mastering the more challenging notes in the future. Kevin’s future ambition is to pursue a career in engineering and is grateful that Ashcroft have already started to get him thinking about his career options.
In my wildest dreams, I would inspire all young people to believe that they can achieve anything in life.
Kevin, Year 7
Rita believes that Ashcroft helped her to settle into secondary school life better than any other school would. The former Sacred Heart Primary School student benefited from Ashcroft staff and students visiting her primary school, transition days and older students and staff offering lots of help and guidance at the start of term. Ashcroft is encouraging Rita to work hard to achieve her dreams and to keep trying. In the future, she can see herself being a biologist. In her wildest dreams, she would like to go to space!
I would recommend Ashcroft because they treat everyone fairly.
Rita, Year 7
Ella dreams of being a star in a hit show or musical on a West End stage. She thinks this dream will become a reality because of the creative opportunities available at Ashcroft. Ella loves the inspirational teaching within the performing arts, music and art departments, the amazing chance to learn a woodwind or brass instrument, and the enrichment opportunities outside the classroom. She has enhanced her performing arts skills and passion through a range of workshops with external professionals, participating in the Shakespeare Schools Festival, school pantomimes and musicals, and going on school trips to see Aladdin in the West End.
My advice to students is that if you apply yourself and get involved, Ashcroft will open many doors for you.
Ella, Year 8, Former St Matthew’s Primary School student
Thanks to his experience so far at Ashcroft High School, Peter has his sights set on becoming a drama teacher. The former Wenlock CofE Junior School student enjoys drama and music the most at Ashcroft as well as the school productions where he has made so many great memories.
I’ve learnt an array of acting skills and techniques in my drama lessons that have helped me to improve my performances.

Mya has a flair for music and dreams of becoming either a famous pianist or teacher to share her skills and talent with others. She feels she has grown in confidence since being at Ashcroft High School, thanks to the support provided and the encouragement from her teachers to take up the many enrichment activities on offer. Her highlight so far has been playing the piano in the school’s Christmas performance. Not only is Mya creative, but she has an interest in maths and geography; and enjoys giving back to the school by helping in the LRC (Learning Resource Centre).
Ashcroft is a very good school where you can achieve so much.

In his wildest dreams, Andrew would be a professional dancer; the performing arts provision at Ashcroft is supporting him to pursue this dream. The former Wenlock CofE Junior School student has seen his acting and dance skills improve thanks to his lessons, after school clubs, school productions and being part of the Ashcroft Dance Company. He is looking forward to enhancing his skills further, learning different dance and acting terminology.

Hailee is an all-rounder who enjoys every aspect of school life at Ashcroft. She would like to follow a career in psychology or law and believes Ashcroft is preparing her for this future by helping her to develop key skills such as independence, communication, professionalism, responsibility and resilience. As well as her academic lessons, Hailee is glad to be able to pursue her love for music through music lessons, tuition, after school clubs and school productions.
Ashcroft is like a big family. My highlight so far has been the school ski trip. It’s been one of the best experiences of my life.

Zara loves the diverse community at Ashcroft and how it helps you develop a greater understanding of people and their cultures. This interest in understanding people has led Zara to take up roles of responsibility, including becoming a Sports Leader and House Captain, running sports events and workshops, and mentoring younger students. Through these roles, she has also developed her communication, problem solving and leadership skills. Zara aspires to go to university and follow a career in either medicine or economics.
In my wildest dreams, I would become an actor.
